Project Description
Jasmine is the youngest and first Vietnamese-Australian Mayor of Brimbank City Council. In an interview in 2022, Jasmine reflected on her experience on a 10-week SAGSE scholarship in Germany as being influential to her personal development by –
- building resilience by getting out of her comfort zone
- understanding the power of language for self-expression and connection to community
- appreciating the importance of global experience in opening the mind to new ideas
2022
- Mayor of Brimbank City Council committed to building a sustainable future incl. the implementation of a community battery for residents to generate and store energy, and the introduction recycling bottle vending machines across Brimbank, which Jasmine had experienced in Germany
2021
- Elected Mayor of Brimbank City Council
- Business Enablement Specialist at National Broadband Network (NBN) Co
2020
- Elected as Deputy Mayor of Brimbank City Council
- Elected to Brimbank City Council on a platform to represent and drive better outcomes for young people and multicultural communities and a sustainable future
- Employed at NBN Co in 2019 to work on marketing projects incl. design and delivery of an augmented reality demonstration model to educate customers
- Various internships and volunteer roles 2015-2020 incl. Chair, Steering Community – Dual Identity Leadership Program, Fundraising Coordinator German Australian Students’ Society
2019
- Completed Bachelor of Commerce & Bachelor of Economics at Monash University
2017
- Awarded a Monash Community Leaders Scholarship
2015
- Began a double degree at Monash University
2014
- Completed VCE including studying German
- Awarded a SAGSE scholarship to German sponsored by SAGSE Alumni
- Achieved full school colours for Environment
2011
- Chose to learn German at The MacRobertson Girls’ High School
